Without Registering Watch Full Length Colour Out of Space
Tomatometer - 6,8 of 10 Release Date - 2019 genre - Horror audience score - 5024 Vote When an iridescent meteorite plummets from outer space and into the property and foundations of a remote New England estate, a malignant force begins to insidiously permeate the lives of an unassuming family. The effects are gradual - time begins to dilate, nature assumes an otherworldly hue - and all things bright and beautiful eventually mutate and corrupt under its influence. So proceeds this eerie adaptation of the short story by H.P. Lovecraft, one of horror's most haunting, here presented by the enigmatic South African filmmaker Richard Stanley. Returning to Midnight Madness 29 years after his hypnotic killer-robot fandango Hardware first premiered in the section, Stanley summons his uniquely hallucinogenic sensibilities to envelope his endearing characters in surreal, incremental dread. At first, their domestic bliss is quietly fraught with an undercurrent of unnerving tension, before eventually boiling over into delirious, acid-fueled terror. The patriarch of this doomed brood is none other than Nicolas Cage, continuing his recent renaissance as a midnight-movie staple with an increasingly unhinged performance that reliably ricochets among every technique in the Stanislavski playbook. The rest of the ensemble, which includes Joely Richardson and Tommy Chong, play effective foils to Cage's delirium, but the real star of the show is the alien entity itself. This all-consuming, dispassionate menace manifests itself in a series of grotesque, body-horror, and psychedelic spectacles, worthy of its ineffable literary origins.
This movie is 100% the movie they wanted to make.
I have read some Lovecraft but this was not one of the ones I have read.
From the trailer I thought it would be similar to the 2000 Japanese horror film Uzumaki where people are menaced by the geometric concept of spirals. I thought people in this movie would be menaced by the color Pink. And they more or less are, but it is just so much more. So much more.
The cast does a really great job the whole time.
Tommy Chong is very Tommy Chong, and yet adds levels to it not seen in That 70's Show or the Cheech and Chong movies. I have met people like this character.
Nicolas Cage is a very Nicolas Cage father. The mother, the kids and the Water Surveyor are all great.
They keep calling the young son Jack Jack. So thinking about the Incredible superhero baby is a happy thought to hold on to in a reality warping horror movie.
The colors and effects are all spot on and great. Other reviews I have seen have likened it to a 1982 movie by John Carpenter and that comparison is apt.
The January 22nd 2020 screening I went to included a video at the end from the Hollywood Premiere where Oswald Patton spoke with Nicolas Cage and Richard Stanley about the movie and Stanley said this was the first of a series of Lovecraft films from him. The next being The Dunwich Horror, which is great news. This movie was amazing and I am super down for more.
Please, please please! DO NOT SCREW THIS UP! Lovecraft did such a beautiful job on the original tale. Do not make it a gore-fest. let it be a psychological thriller. Sigh. I've waited my whole 87 years of life to see this story done right as a movie. Sadly this is not remotely near what horrified me beyond belief when I read it when it was new. Perhaps if I live to 100 somebody will finally get that ending right. Literally the smoldering ashen charcoal-ised farmer uttering his final words of realization before collapsing to a pile of embers. I still shudder to recall it.
Antillers, The Void, and now this movie I'm so happy to see the return of the cosmic horror in theater. Love Nick Cage! This should be Super NICK CAGE DOING LOVECRAFT! Want to see Mandy now as well! More GOOD LOVECRAFT. Synopsis of the movie: A cannabis cake that emits a pink color falls next to a family's house and drives everyone crazy! hahahahaha. Boja iz semiramis. Perhaps this abysmal gaseous monstrosity was that of each of the witness's own perceptions. The color being an indescribable luminous tonal range not of this earth, and sucking the color essentially from the tones of natural earth which we can perceive, maybe is death it's self, or a visual representation of fear of death, as seen through the eyes of how we as biological creatures are trying to understand it as, actualized. Maybe Lovecraft was overtaken by reefer way, great visual story telling, and as always, very enchanting to the wandering mind.
Wtf did i just watch? If like someone high was also on something else and it just went bonkers. Fantastic reading, thank you Ian! Many thanks for doing another Lovecraft. No need to watch the movie Trailers have given it away. H. P. Lovecraft needs to be known for those who don't. I have read a few of H.P. Lovecraft's stories and by far this was the only one that actually creeped me out and I thought was one of his best pieces he ever wrote.
A meteorite strikes earth, carries with it some powerful extraterrestrial influences and transforms its environment in spectacular and terrifying ways. The worst fears and weaknesses of each person it reaches are manifested in ways peculiar to them.
This HP Lovecraft story includes some of the best, well-crafted CGI I have yet seen. Nicolas Cage stars and performs well in his characteristic unhinged way. Color Out of Space includes a faithful portrayal of whippoorwills, which I hear in Ontario on Gillies Lake and so I vouch for the faithfulness of the depiction. I wish for depth in dialogue and acting. Filmed on location in Portugal. The director and all the actors were present and responded to audience questions at this world premiere at the Toronto international film festival.
When you drink a Potion Of Invisibility in Minecraft. Boja iz svemira. Invisible Man meets Sleeping with the Enemy. Completely unoriginal, lazy writing, lame cast. And people gobble it up. What happens if jason mamoa was acting as invisible man! people : holly lord. The Invisible Man AKA What Happens When Elizabeth Moss Tries to Escape Scientology. Wow, so many original comments.
